Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to distribute more than Rs 18,880 crore directly to over 9.44 lakh farmers nationwide in the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This event will take place in Tarakeswar, West Bengal’s Hooghly district. Among the beneficiaries, there are over 2.18 crore women farmers receiving this instalment.
The total disbursement under the PM-KISAN scheme will surpass Rs 4.46 lakh crore with the release of this latest instalment. The Union Ministry of Agriculture, with the support of the Government of West Bengal, will organize the distribution event. In West Bengal alone, over Rs 907.21 crore will be transferred to more than 45.35 lakh beneficiaries in this instalment.
To raise awareness about various government schemes, special events will be held at different levels, including state, district, block, and gram panchayat levels. These events, named “PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas,” will be supported by KVKs and local agriculture offices. Additionally, more than 1 crore farmers are expected to participate via video conferencing at various agricultural institutions and village functions.
The Prime Minister will also launch several Central Government schemes during the event to benefit farmers in West Bengal. These schemes include the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)/Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS), aiming to extend crop insurance benefits to farmers in the state. Furthermore, the Prime Minister will introduce AgriStack in West Bengal as part of the Digital Agriculture Mission, providing a unified digital platform for agriculture-related services.
