Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a trip to France and Slovakia on Saturday. The visit will focus on enhancing defense cooperation, particularly in light of India’s efforts to bolster its military capabilities amidst growing strategic competition in key maritime areas.
During his visit to France, PM Modi will engage in bilateral discussions with President Emmanuel Macron in Nice on June 14. The leaders are expected to assess the entire spectrum of their bilateral relations. Additionally, they will jointly inaugurate the ‘Bharat Innovates’ event, aimed at fostering innovation partnerships between India and France.
Following his time in France, PM Modi will head to Slovakia for a state visit from June 14 to June 16. This visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. The agenda includes talks with Slovak leaders to explore new avenues of cooperation, emphasizing sectors such as trade, investment, and automobile and railway manufacturing.
The final leg of the trip will see Prime Minister Modi return to France to participate in the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16-17. This summit will provide a platform for PM Modi to engage with G7 leaders and other international stakeholders. Subsequently, he will travel to Paris for further bilateral engagements and to attend the VivaTech Summit, a prominent technology and startup event in Europe.
