Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged athletes participating in the World Yogasana Championship to spread awareness about the Ayush Ministry’s ‘Yoga 365’ initiative in their home countries. The campaign aims to promote year-round engagement with yoga for healthier lifestyles. PM Modi emphasized the importance of yoga for maintaining an active and healthy life, aligning with this year’s International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The Prime Minister urged athletes from around the world to serve as ambassadors for ‘Yoga 365’ beyond the championship. He highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting preventive health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle on a modest budget. The World Yogasana Championship in Ahmedabad, hosting over 400 competitors from 60 countries, is a significant step in establishing Yogasana as an international sport.

PM Modi praised the broader impact of yoga beyond physical fitness, emphasizing its role in preventive health care. He commended the Ayush Ministry’s efforts to enhance yoga participation nationally and globally. The championship, supported by the Ministry and various sports authorities, is seen as a platform to promote yoga worldwide and strengthen international awareness of its benefits.

Congratulating the organizers and participants, PM Modi highlighted the potential of athletes’ experiences and dedication to yoga in advancing global understanding of the practice. He envisioned their contributions as pivotal in driving the growth of yoga-related initiatives throughout the year.
