Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm birthday greetings to Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, acknowledging his efforts to advance the state’s progress and uplift the youth. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also conveyed her wishes to Dr. Saha, recognizing his leadership in steering Tripura towards stability, development, and people-centric governance.
Before becoming Tripura’s first maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Saha, son of entrepreneur Makhan Lal Saha, hailed from a family with business interests in Tripura and Kolkata. Transitioning from a family legacy, he pursued a medical career, gaining respect in medical circles prior to his political foray.
Dr. Saha’s political journey saw him shift from the Congress to the BJP in 2016, aligning with the party’s mission to end the CPI(M)-led Left Front government’s long-standing rule in Tripura. His association with key BJP figures like Sunil Deodhar and Biplab Kumar Deb played a pivotal role in his rise within the party.
Assuming the role of Chief Minister in 2022, Dr. Saha faced initial challenges due to his predecessor’s influence but managed to enhance the party’s standing through strategic governance. Securing a second term after the Assembly elections, Dr. Saha, aged 70, continues to lead Tripura with a renewed mandate.
