Under the PM SVANidhi (Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi) scheme, street vendors in urban areas are receiving affordable loans to support their businesses. This initiative has been particularly beneficial for small traders who rely on selling goods along roadsides to sustain their families.
Implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme has provided millions of street vendors and hawkers with the opportunity to achieve self-reliance. Through PM SVANidhi, vendors can access loans without significant collateral requirements, enabling them to establish or expand their businesses.
In Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the PM SVANidhi Scheme has made a positive impact, benefiting over 600 individuals who depend on it for their livelihoods. Following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this scheme has emerged as a beacon of hope for street vendors, offering them a chance to improve their financial situations and earn a better income.
Beneficiaries from Chamoli district have expressed gratitude for the scheme, highlighting the positive changes it has brought to their lives. With support from the municipal body, they were guided through the application process and received timely loans, allowing them to regain their financial stability.
The central government’s initiative has been lauded by beneficiaries like Birendra Singh Rana, who shared his success story of starting a tea shop with the help of the PM SVANidhi Scheme. He emphasized the scheme’s significance in providing opportunities for unemployed youth to establish small businesses easily, ultimately leading to financial empowerment and self-reliance.
