The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissionerate apprehended a cannabis smuggler who devised a scheme to distribute the illegal substance across state borders. The arrested individual, identified as Omveer Singh from Agra, had ingeniously modified an ambulance to conceal and transport 64 kilograms of cannabis. Singh, 48, confessed to procuring cannabis from Odisha and distributing it in the Delhi-NCR region.

The operation, carried out jointly by Noida Phase-1 Police and the Narcotics Cell, successfully intercepted Singh near the Jhundpura border. Singh’s method involved converting the ambulance to include hidden compartments for smuggling purposes. He explained that using an ambulance provided a strategic advantage as these vehicles are less likely to be scrutinized at checkpoints, facilitating the transportation of cannabis undetected.

Singh’s illicit activities extended to repackaging the cannabis upon reaching Delhi for local distribution. The profits from this illegal trade funded his extravagant lifestyle and personal interests. Authorities are now actively pursuing leads to uncover any accomplices associated with this smuggling network. Investigations are ongoing to determine potential connections between Singh and other criminal groups or cannabis suppliers.
