Police in Kolkata have apprehended two additional individuals linked to the recent clash between two groups in the Golpark area, bringing the total number of arrests to 19. The main accused, Sona Pappu, is currently on the run. Following the violent incident on Sunday, the Rabindra Sarobar police station has been actively conducting raids to capture the suspects.

During a raid on Tuesday night, two more suspects identified as Rakesh Banik and Rajiv Das, also known as Sonu, were taken into custody. Both individuals reside on Panchanantala Road in the Rabindra Sarobar police station vicinity. The police had swiftly arrested ten people right after the disturbance on Sunday night and continued their efforts, resulting in the subsequent arrests.

Additional arrests were made in the following days, with four individuals detained during a raid on Monday night and three more apprehended by Tuesday afternoon. The recent arrests have brought the total number of accused individuals to 19. Meanwhile, Sona Pappu, the prime accused, went live on Facebook on Tuesday to assert his innocence and deny involvement in the incident.

The clash between the two groups occurred on Kakulia Road in Golpark under the Rabindra Sarobar police station’s jurisdiction. Allegations from local residents point towards Sona Pappu’s gang as the instigators of the conflict. Three FIRs have been lodged at the Rabindra Sarobar police station in connection with the incident, including a case related to an attack on a police vehicle.

According to reports, the altercation began around 8:30 p.m. during a club picnic at Panchanantala near Golpark. The dispute erupted between a group of local businessmen led by Bapi Halder and Sona Pappu’s gang, with claims that the latter aimed to take control of the area. The violent episode involved around 100-150 masked miscreants engaging in firing, bomb throwing, and using sharp weapons, resulting in property damage and injuries.
