Police in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, have attached properties worth around Rs 5 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan’. The properties, including residential houses, were seized under the NDPS Act to disrupt the financial networks of drug traffickers. One of the accused, Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, and Aneek Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Budgam district, had their properties valued at nearly Rs 30 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively, seized by the police.
In separate actions, properties belonging to other individuals involved in drug-related offenses were also attached. Suhaib Farooq Khan’s double-storey house in Chanapora and Mohsin Ibrahim Naqash’s three-storey house in Jawahar Nagar, both in Srinagar, were among the properties seized. The police emphasized that these actions were taken in accordance with the law to combat drug trafficking and warned of strict legal consequences for those involved in the narcotics trade.
The crackdown on drug-related activities is part of the police’s efforts to eliminate the drug menace in the region. The authorities have urged the public to report any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse, ensuring the confidentiality of informants. The attached properties, valued at millions of rupees, were allegedly acquired through illicit drug trafficking, as revealed by police investigations.
