Ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), police in Jammu district conducted a cordon and search operation in the R.S. Pura area. The operation aimed to maintain peace, enhance security, and prevent anti-social activities. It involved searching houses of known gangsters and drug peddlers on June 24, 2026, between 5 pm and 7.30 pm.
The search operation was carried out jointly by the Police Station R.S. Pura, personnel of the 165 Battalion BSF, and the CISF 262 Battalion. Various locations in the Chakroi area were covered, including residences of individuals with criminal backgrounds. The searches also extended to Village Joura Farm, an abandoned structure, and the nearby ditch/nallah area. Similar operations were conducted in the Baspur Bangla area.
No suspicious individuals, illegal substances, incriminating materials, or objectionable items were found during the searches. The operation, which was conducted following legal procedures, concluded peacefully without any incidents. Family members and occupants of the searched locations provided No Damage Certificates after the searches.
To ensure the security of the upcoming SANJY-2026, police in Anantnag district have implemented a security arrangement called ‘Project Hawk Eye.’ This initiative involves the use of drones, CCTV cameras, surveillance equipment, and specially trained commandos to monitor the Yatra route from strategic locations.
