Police in J&K’s Poonch district have arrested a notorious drug peddler, Asif Khan, in Mumbai. The arrest was made under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. Asif Khan, known for his involvement in illicit drug trafficking, had been evading the law by fleeing to Mumbai.
The detention order against Asif Khan was issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu due to his repeated engagement in drug trafficking activities. As a habitual drug peddler with a history of criminal cases under the NDPS Act, he posed a serious threat to public health and order. Despite his attempts to escape arrest, a special police team from Poonch successfully apprehended him in Mumbai.
The successful execution of the detention order highlights the commitment of Poonch Police in combating drug trafficking. Asif Khan has been brought back to J&K and is now in District Jail Dhangri. The police urge the public to support their efforts by providing information on drug-related activities, ensuring a safer community free from narcotics.
