Police in Tumakuru, Karnataka, have arrested two youths, Allabakash and Zameer Khan, for allegedly communicating with a Pakistan-based individual through social media. The authorities claim that the arrested individuals were involved in activities deemed harmful to India’s national security and sovereignty, leading to their detention under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The investigation revealed that the accused youths were in contact with a wanted Pakistani terrorist named Rana Umar, who was reportedly orchestrating the formation of a network in the region. The police discovered that the suspects had been communicating with the handler for about 20 days across various social media platforms, discussing topics ranging from religious matters to provocative actions.
The police action was prompted by intelligence inputs, leading to the examination of Allabakash’s mobile phone, which revealed conversations with the Pakistan-based individual. Authorities suspect a broader network influenced by the handler, with discussions allegedly escalating from religious dialogues to incendiary activities. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the extent of the network and the coordination among its members.
