In a quick operation, police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, caught a habitual snatcher who had stolen a mobile phone and used a motorcycle in the crime. The suspect was nabbed after snatching a phone from a young woman at the NH-24 border picket. The police team acted promptly upon hearing the victim’s cries and apprehended the culprit on the spot.
Due to a rise in mobile thefts in the area, a special team was formed under Inspector Upadhyaya Bala Shankaram and supervised by Assistant Police Commissioner Yash Pal Singh. The team, with Constables Sanjay and Amit, was strategically placed at key locations to combat such crimes effectively. An FIR has been filed based on the victim’s complaint, and investigations are ongoing.
The accused, identified as Bhupender, a resident of Adarsh Colony in Ghaziabad, was known for his involvement in snatching and theft cases. He admitted to his role in another case reported earlier at the New Ashok Nagar Police Station. Despite being released on bail in February, he resumed criminal activities. The stolen phone and the motorcycle used in the crime have been recovered, as confirmed by officials.
