A tragic incident unfolded in the Jalkot area of Upper Kohistan in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as a police officer and a 22-year-old woman were reportedly shot dead in an apparent case of honor killing. The Upper Kohistan DPO, Tahir Iqbal Khan, revealed that the woman and the policeman were declared ‘Chor’ by the accused family due to their relationship, leading to their untimely demise.
The deceased policeman, stationed at Dasu police station in Upper Kohistan, fell victim to this brutal act. Authorities have taken action by filing a case against the suspects under sections 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police teams have been deployed to apprehend the culprits, with an expectation that they may surrender within a day or two, as efforts are being made to engage with their families.
In a similar tragic incident back in May, another young couple, Nadia and Najeebullah, who had married by choice, were fatally shot in the Malir area of Karachi, Pakistan. The assailants targeted the couple while they were in their vehicle, resulting in their deaths. The couple had faced opposition to their marriage, leading to a kidnapping case being filed by Nadia’s father, which eventually culminated in a tragic end for the pair.
