Cyberabad Police in Hyderabad took action against a police officer who allowed a minor to drive a car, sparking public outrage. The officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Pujari Thirupathi, permitted his six-year-old granddaughter to drive on a busy road within Narsingi Police Station limits. A video of the incident circulated on social media, leading to the registration of a case under relevant laws.
The incident involved the minor girl driving on a public road, causing a traffic jam and drawing objections from onlookers. Despite being confronted, the police officer defended his actions, stating that he was supervising the auto-gear vehicle. The situation escalated as people questioned the officer’s disregard for traffic regulations, especially given his law enforcement role.
Cyberabad Traffic Police confirmed the registration of the case under specific legal sections against the officer. Additionally, the police conducted a special enforcement drive against drunk driving, resulting in the apprehension of 354 offenders over the weekend. Offenders were categorized based on their Blood Alcohol Concentration levels, with varying degrees of severity.
