A police officer lost his life, and two others sustained injuries during attacks on police installations in Qila Abdullah, Pishin, and Duki districts of Balochistan, Pakistan. Unidentified armed individuals on motorcycles used heavy weapons to target the Gilo police check post, setting it ablaze and stealing two AK-47 rifles, a private car, and a motorcycle. Despite the damage caused, no casualties were reported at the check post.
Security forces and police personnel quickly responded to the incidents, but the attackers managed to escape. In another assault in the Saranan area of Pishin, assailants targeted the Sultan police station, seizing weapons and using explosives to damage the building. Additionally, a police station in the Duki area was attacked, resulting in a fatal exchange of fire that claimed the life of a police officer and left two others injured.
Recent security assessments by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) highlighted a deteriorating security situation in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The assessments revealed a significant increase in militant activities during May, with a surge in attacks, casualties, suicide bombings, and kidnappings, emphasizing the persistent security challenges faced by the region.
