Police conducted searches at various places associated with Sumit Roy, the missing executive assistant of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. Locations included Sumit’s residence in Kolkata, his house in Hooghly district, and his in-laws’ home, but he could not be located.
Sumit’s mother-in-law expressed displeasure over the police search, claiming intrusion into their family’s privacy. Authorities tracked Sumit’s mobile phone to Abhishek’s residence in Kolkata, leading to a search operation there. Despite breaking the lock on the door, Sumit was not found, and the police team later left the premises.
Sumit frequently visited his in-laws’ house in Serampore, as per local sources. However, during the recent days, he had not been seen there. The police are reportedly searching for Sumit in connection with a land-related case, possibly linked to a recent arrest in a land corruption matter involving a former MLA.
Authorities, including Superintendent of Police Papiya Sultana, have been tracing Sumit’s movements based on mobile tower locations. Recent information led them to search various locations, including Kalighat, in the ongoing effort to locate Sumit.
