Political activity in Bihar has heightened as the Samrat Choudhary-led NDA government gears up for a cabinet expansion scheduled for Thursday. In anticipation of the event at Gandhi Maidan on May 7, traffic management in Patna has been revamped, with strict restrictions in place on various key routes. Vehicular movement from Sheikhpura Mor to the airport will be completely prohibited on the event day, as per traffic police advisories.
Key stretches such as the Airport Roundabout to eastern Patel Roundabout and routes from Rajendra Chowk to Patel Roundabout will be sealed off. Furthermore, the corridor from Patel Roundabout to Income Tax Roundabout, encompassing Harding Road, Sinchai Bhawan, and R-Block, has been marked as a complete “No-Entry Zone.” Movement from Chitkohra Roundabout towards the northern side will also face restrictions.
Strict traffic controls will be in place at major junctions like Income Tax Roundabout, Dak Bungalow, JP Roundabout, Ramgulam Chowk, Bakarganj, and Kargil Chowk. Entry to SP Verma Road from New Dak Bungalow Road will be closed. Passengers heading to the airport are advised to take alternative routes via Jagdeo Path and Raja Bazar. Similarly, travelers going to Patna Junction are recommended to approach from the Karbigahiya side to avoid congestion in central areas.
Security measures have been significantly enhanced in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other VVIP dignitaries’ visit. Official convoys will use Gate No. 1 of Gandhi Maidan, while Gates 4 and 12 are reserved for ministers and authorized VIPs. Gates 7, 8, 9, and 10 are allocated for the general public. To manage the expected large turnout, dedicated parking spaces have been set up along the Marine Drive Patna stretch from Digha to Kangan Ghat. Additional parking facilities are available at Patna College and Science College to ease pressure on city roads. Authorities are urging residents to adhere to traffic advisories and cooperate with officials to ensure the event runs smoothly and with minimal inconvenience.
