Political activity has heightened in Patna, Bihar’s capital, in preparation for the upcoming Legislative Council elections. Janata Dal (United) National President Nitish Kumar recently met with Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary to discuss candidate names and finalize plans. Discussions on seat-sharing within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are progressing as the nomination process for 10 vacant seats in the Bihar Legislative Council began.
Sources suggest that out of the ten seats, around four may be allocated to JD(U). Consequently, there is a surge in competition among senior leaders and aspirants for party nominations. JD(U) leadership is focusing on balancing social and regional factors while finalizing the list of candidates, considering aspects like caste representation and electoral strategy.
Amid speculations, Health Minister Nishant Kumar’s name has emerged prominently for nomination to the Legislative Council from JD(U)’s quota. However, no official confirmation has been provided by the party yet. The party is reportedly working on maintaining a broad social and political balance for the remaining seats, considering representation for various groups like backward classes, minority communities, and long-serving party workers.
The series of meetings and consultations in Patna indicate that JD(U) is gearing up for the Legislative Council polls, actively shaping its election strategy.
