Political activity in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi has intensified with visits from Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and former Union Minister Smriti Irani, sparking fresh speculation over the battle for influence in the Gandhi family bastion. Following Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit, Smriti Irani received a warm welcome from BJP workers and supporters in Amethi, with reception programs held across the constituency.
During her visit, Smriti Irani stressed the importance of strengthening the BJP organization at the booth level at a workers’ training program in Musafirkhana. She encouraged party workers to enhance public outreach and ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes by the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government. The event was seen as a significant effort to energize the party organization and prepare workers for future political challenges.
Apart from the organizational meeting, Smriti Irani visited Pure Thakurain Majra Mattepur village to offer condolences to the family of Brijesh Tiwari, the brother of senior BJP leader Ramesh Tiwari. Her visit is considered noteworthy, especially following Rahul Gandhi’s recent interactions with Congress workers in Amethi. Both the BJP and Congress are expected to escalate their political engagement in Amethi in the upcoming months.
