The political controversy surrounding the Bharat Tiwari encounter case in Bihar’s Bhojpur district has intensified. Opposition and ruling party leaders have expressed strong reactions amid an ongoing judicial inquiry into the incident. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha has raised concerns over the encounter, stating that such actions are often used to hide the truth rather than reveal it.
Jha emphasized that encounters are not just about individuals but about uncovering the truth. He criticized the practice of projecting encounters as achievements without addressing the underlying causes of crime. According to Jha, encounters are conducted to conceal facts and raise doubts about transparency.
Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) National Spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan highlighted that the matter is sub judice, and the state government will abide by judicial directives. He mentioned that Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has ordered a judicial inquiry into the case in response to questions raised about the police’s involvement.
Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has demanded that Chief Minister Choudhary visit Bharat Tiwari’s family and apologize. Yadav criticized the state’s law and order situation, alleging that innocent individuals are targeted while criminals operate freely. He called for an impartial investigation into the encounter, expressing suspicions and seeking clarification on the FIR filed against Tiwari’s family members.
The Bihar government has initiated a judicial inquiry into the encounter, with a retired High Court judge tasked to assess the operation’s circumstances and compliance with procedures. The police claim that Bharat Tiwari fired during the incident, while his family and political figures argue that he surrendered before being shot.
