The leaders of all political parties in West Bengal united to denounce the heckling and physical attack on Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha member, Abhishek Banerjee, in Sonarpur. The incident, deemed unfortunate, drew criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the CPI-M for Banerjee’s past provocative speeches during campaign rallies. State BJP President urged for restraint and criticized the absence of police during the assault.

State BJP President highlighted the need for the state government to address the security lapse during the attack on Abhishek Banerjee. He also referenced past instances of violence against BJP workers by Trinamool Congress supporters. Meanwhile, State CPI-M Secretary condemned the attack while questioning the motives behind it, suggesting a political agenda to keep Trinamool Congress relevant in West Bengal.

State Trinamool Congress General Secretary, Kunal Ghosh, criticized the withdrawal of security for Abhishek Banerjee and condemned the attack. As Abhishek Banerjee was escorted out by police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, protesters labeled him a “thief.” Banerjee, expressing concern for his safety, vowed legal action and raised questions about BJP’s involvement in the incident.
