A political controversy unfolded as Uttar Pradesh Congress President, Ajay Rai, was put under house arrest in Ayodhya before his planned visit to the Ram Mandir. Congress claimed Rai and a delegation were stopped from going to the temple, while BJP accused Congress of politicizing the issue amidst the ongoing probe into Ram Temple donations. Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar dismissed Congress’ claims, stating they lack support and have tried to obstruct temple construction.
BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana supported the action, citing the ongoing investigation. He emphasized that visiting a temple is not wrong, but politicizing it is. Congress criticized Rai’s house arrest, with party leader Abhishek Dutt linking it to broader political matters. Rai, under house arrest at Hotel Padam Shri Palace, alleged detention by district police upon his arrival in Ayodhya.
Amid the controversy over alleged donation embezzlement at the Ram Mandir, Uttar Pradesh Congress accused the police of confining its leaders in Ayodhya. Rai, who was to lead a delegation for temple darshan, claimed he was detained at the hotel. He expressed intentions to seek Lord Shri Ram’s blessings and address the alleged disrepute caused by donation theft and land scams by RSS and BJP at the holy site.
