Intense political speculation arose in Maharashtra after a late-night meeting at the official residence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting involved NCP(SP) leader and MLA Jayant Patil with the CM. However, Patil clarified that the meeting was about a constituency-specific administrative issue regarding a demolition threat. He sought the CM’s time to discuss this local issue.
Patil explained that upon his arrival at the CM’s residence, he had to wait in the hall as the Chief Minister was engaged in prior commitments. When CM Fadnavis became available, Patil presented his case in a brief meeting lasting 5 to 10 minutes. The Chief Minister assured him that he would address the matter, which falls under the Urban Development Department.
Patil emphasized that the meeting did not involve discussions with NCP leaders Sunil Tatkare or Praful Patel. He dismissed any talks of party merger or political realignment, affirming unity behind Sharad Pawar. Patil also clarified that a recent casual meeting with BJP leader Vinod Tawde had no political agenda, occurring during a Parliamentary Committee gathering.
When asked about the Delimitation Bill and ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, Patil deferred decision-making to the party’s central leadership. He highlighted that NCP MP Supriya Sule will lead the party’s stance on these Bills, particularly focusing on women’s representation.
