In a move to support tribal artisans and promote indigenous products, the Department of Posts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India. This collaboration aims to enhance the delivery system for products sold through TRIFED’s online platforms, including the Tribes India e-marketplace.
The Department of Posts will manage logistics for online orders, leveraging its extensive network for smooth pickup, transport, and delivery, even in remote areas. This partnership is expected to facilitate wider access to markets for tribal products, benefiting tribal artisans and entrepreneurs.
By providing faster and more reliable deliveries, the initiative is anticipated to enhance customer satisfaction and drive up demand for tribal products. Additionally, the Department of Posts will offer services such as shipment tracking and technical integration with TRIFED’s system to streamline order processing, ensuring an efficient and transparent supply chain.
TRIFED will gain access to a “Book Now Pay Later” facility under the National Account system for easy booking and payment through Speed Post. The agreement also emphasizes proper packaging, labeling, and accurate sharing of order details to prevent delays, covering product pickups from various regional centers across India.
This strategic partnership is poised to increase income opportunities for tribal communities by better integrating them into the digital economy. Furthermore, it is expected to elevate the visibility and demand for authentic tribal products in the market. The MoU is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension following a mutual review.
