A delegation of postal employees and representatives from different postal unions recently met with Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, and Atomic Energy, Dr. Jitendra Singh. They discussed matters such as cadre restructuring, financial upgradation schemes, and pension issues. The delegation also addressed concerns regarding the Mail Motor Service and its role in the changing communication landscape.
The meeting also focused on issues related to career progression and the need for consistent implementation of schemes across regions. Discussions included topics concerning Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), emphasizing social security coverage and welfare measures for this group. The delegation expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and the Department of Personnel & Training for their ongoing attention to these matters.
During the meeting, concerns were raised about pension-related issues, prompting Dr. Singh to suggest utilizing existing mechanisms like Pension Adalat and CPENGRAM for quicker resolutions. The minister acknowledged the vital role of postal employees, especially in rural areas, and highlighted the importance of adapting workforce structures and service models to meet changing technological and public demands.
The participants also explored coordination in areas related to atomic energy to enhance institutional capabilities and stakeholder involvement. Dr. Singh assured that issues raised, including cadre restructuring, would be taken up with relevant Ministries and Departments for proper consideration based on established policies and rules.
