Amid calls to ban non-Hindus from entering Haridwar’s Har ki Pauri, posters have been displayed at the religious site clearly stating it as a “Non-Hindus Prohibited Entry Zone.” The move by Shri Ganga Sabha, the organization behind the posters, aims to inform people about the area’s restrictions without any malicious intent.
President of Shri Ganga Sabha, Nitin Gautam, emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding the law following recent incidents. He explained that the banners were placed to educate individuals on rules and regulations, ensuring peace and order in society. The initiative intends to prevent misunderstandings and promote harmony among visitors and devotees in Haridwar.
The demand to restrict non-Hindus from entering Haridwar has been a longstanding issue, especially with the upcoming Ardh Kumbh festival. Nitin Gautam highlighted the historical municipal bylaws established by the British government in Haridwar, emphasizing the need to adhere to these regulations. Similar restrictions on non-Hindus exist in various temples across South India, reflecting a trend of upholding religious sanctity and practices.
