A significant development in India’s energy sector occurred at the Global AI Summit where the PowerXchange App was unveiled, along with the official launch of the Interstate Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Energy Trading Platform. This platform allows consumers and prosumers to seamlessly trade surplus solar energy, aiming to boost income generation for farmers and electricity users while promoting energy self-reliance.
Under the India Energy Stack initiative, PowerXchange was chosen as one of the two platforms in the country to advance P2P energy trading. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) played a crucial role in developing the technology and registering users on the platform. During a live demonstration, a beneficiary named Lakshmi Gaba, a small boutique owner, showcased the app’s user-friendly features by using its AI voice agent to purchase electricity.
The launch event was graced by senior officials, including India Energy Stack Chairman R.S. Sharma, UPPCL Chairman Ashish Goyal, and other prominent figures from the energy sector. Powered by blockchain, AI, and machine learning technologies, PowerXchange aims to empower every household to be energy self-reliant and extend government solar schemes nationwide, enhancing transparency and efficiency in India’s energy market.
The interstate P2P energy trading platform is set to start operations, ushering in a new chapter in the country’s energy landscape. This platform not only facilitates seamless trading of surplus solar energy between consumers and prosumers but also promotes energy self-reliance and fosters transparency in the digital energy market.
