Pranavi Urs impressed with a bogey-free 3-under 70 in the first round of the Joburg Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour, securing a Tied-21st position among the five Indian participants. Tvesa Malik and Diksha Dagar finished the round at 1-under 72, placing them Tied-54th. Avani Prashanth shot 2-over 75, while Hitaashee Bakshi struggled with a 4-over 77.
Tvesa, in her first LET event this season, reached 4-under at one point but closed the round at 1-under 72 after a double bogey and a bogey on the 15th and 16th holes. Diksha, currently ninth on the LET Order of Merit, recorded five birdies, three bogeys, and a double in her round of 72.
The lead was jointly held by Agathe Laisne of France, Brianna Navarossa of the US, and Ariane Klotz of France, all posting impressive 7-under 66 scores. Laura Beveridge of Scotland and Justice Bosio of Australia followed closely, tied for fourth at 6-under 67 each. Players like Slovenia’s Pia Babnik, Wales’ Lydia Hall, and France’s Celine Herbin also made it to the top-10.
Casandra Alexander, a local favorite, carded a 69 (-4) despite a bogey on her opening hole. She currently ranks 41st in the Women’s World Golf Rankings and remains optimistic about the upcoming rounds. A total of 73 players went under par on the first day at Randpark Golf Club, including five South African players.
