Premalatha Vijayakanth, the general secretary of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), stated that her party would reveal its decision on forming an electoral alliance at the appropriate time. She expressed a willingness to consider a coalition government with a share in power in Tamil Nadu. The party is currently assessing its options in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Premalatha mentioned that discussions regarding potential alliances were ongoing but refrained from divulging specific details. She cautiously addressed the recent State Budget, questioning the feasibility of implementing the proclaimed 30 key announcements before the elections. The need for a government in Tamil Nadu that not only announces schemes but also effectively implements them for the people’s benefit was emphasized.
Highlighting the importance of fiscal responsibility and timely execution of welfare and development initiatives, Premalatha suggested that a coalition government could bring a positive change to the State. She expressed openness to the idea of a coalition government with a share in power, indicating a willingness to explore post-election alignments. Premalatha also mentioned meeting various political figures as a courtesy call and welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit if it benefits Tamil Nadu.
