A day before International Yoga Day, various cities in India are gearing up for celebrations with the participation of political leaders, yoga enthusiasts, diplomats, and citizens. Events and awareness programs have been organized in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, and New Delhi in anticipation of the nationwide festivities on June 21.
In Kolkata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the main event, where he will practice yoga alongside thousands of participants. The program will include the Governor, Chief Minister, Union Ayush Minister, local government officials, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and other dignitaries, following the Common Yoga Protocol practiced for the past 12 years.
Yoga’s global recognition was highlighted by BJP leader Prakash Reddy in Hyderabad, attributing Prime Minister Modi’s vision to garner international support for International Yoga Day at the United Nations. He emphasized the universal appeal of yoga as a therapeutic practice for various ailments, leading to its adoption as a global resolution.
In Mumbai, BJP Minority Morcha President Wasim Khan emphasized the inclusive nature of yoga, transcending religious, caste, and community boundaries. He credited Prime Minister Modi for elevating yoga to a global platform, emphasizing its widespread adoption for physical and mental well-being across diverse populations.
In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu joined yoga guru Baba Ramdev at the Undavalli Caves in Amaravati to partake in Yoga Day celebrations. Similarly, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma highlighted yoga’s significance in promoting physical strength, mental peace, and a balanced lifestyle, urging citizens to actively engage in Yoga Day events.
In Hyderabad, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy commended the city’s tradition of hosting a 24-hour countdown event before International Yoga Day for the past seven years, uniting prominent figures and yoga enthusiasts. Jodhpur also witnessed enthusiastic participation in a yoga session, emphasizing the global embrace of yoga with growing enthusiasm worldwide.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in New Delhi added an international touch to the celebrations by organizing a special yoga session in collaboration with Life Yoga. The event aimed to promote wellness, strengthen cultural ties, and foster people-to-people friendship between India and Russia.
