President Droupadi Murmu commenced the final segment of her tour by arriving in Bucharest, Romania. This visit signifies India’s diplomatic efforts in Eastern Europe and commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. Welcomed by Ms. Oana-Silvia Toiu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, the President is set to engage in discussions with Romanian leaders including President Nicusor Dan and interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Additionally, she will address the India-Romania Business Forum and connect with the Indian community during her stay.
President Murmu’s visit to Romania is part of a broader State Visit that also included Moldova and North Macedonia. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the significance of these visits in strengthening economic partnerships, especially with the impending India-European Union Free Trade Agreement. India’s engagement with Eastern Europe is underscored by these diplomatic efforts, reflecting the country’s commitment to fostering international ties.
