President Droupadi Murmu visited the Stefan cel Mare si Sfant monument in Chisinau, Moldova, during her State Visit to the country. The monument honors Stefan cel Mare, a significant historical figure known for defending Moldova from Turkish invasion in the 15th century.
During her visit, President Murmu also met with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popsoi, who warmly welcomed her at Chisinau International Airport. This visit marks the first-ever by an Indian President to Moldova.
President Murmu, accompanied by officials, engaged in discussions with her Moldovan counterpart, Maia Sandu, at the Presidential Palace in Chisinau. They reviewed bilateral relations and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
At the India-Moldova Business Forum in Chisinau, President Murmu highlighted the importance of trusted international partnerships for mutual prosperity and sustainable economic growth. She emphasized India’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for Moldovan companies to engage in trade and business activities.
Expressing India’s dedication to strengthening ties with Moldova across various sectors, President Murmu underscored the significance of her visit in enhancing political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people connections. She also acknowledged the presence of a substantial Indian business delegation, signaling growing confidence in Moldova’s economic potential.
