President Droupadi Murmu is set to undertake a state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania from July 19-25, 2026, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. In Moldova, she will engage in discussions with President Maia Sandu, marking the first visit by an Indian President to the country. The visit aims to enhance bilateral ties, particularly in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, IT, and education.
President Murmu’s itinerary includes a visit to North Macedonia at the invitation of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova from July 21-22, another historic first for an Indian President. She is scheduled to meet with President Siljanovska-Davkova, PM Hristijan Mickoski, and address the North Macedonia Assembly. Both countries are eager to strengthen economic cooperation, focusing on areas such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and technology.
Subsequently, President Murmu will travel to Romania from July 23 to 25, invited by President Nicușor Dan, marking the first visit by an Indian President in over three decades. Her agenda includes discussions with President Dan, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, and engagements with key Romanian officials. The visit underscores India’s commitment to bolstering ties with these nations and the broader Eastern European region, especially in light of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
