President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled several women-focused welfare projects in Delhi. These initiatives include the ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’, the ‘Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar’ scheme, which involves a Direct Benefit Transfer of Rs 100 crore for over 40,000 girls, and the ‘Saheli Pink Smart Card’ offering free bus travel for women in the national Capital.
At the launch event held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Chief Minister Gupta, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and MLA Pankaj Singh were present. The ‘Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar’ initiative saw Rs 100 crore being directly transferred to the bank accounts of 40,642 girls in Delhi, marking a significant DBT rollout for girl beneficiaries in the city.
President Murmu expressed confidence that these new schemes would empower women and girls in Delhi. She congratulated Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her team for their efforts. Chief Minister Gupta hailed the day as historic, stating that the initiatives would be remembered for generations to come.
