On the 12th International Yoga Day, President Droupadi Murmu participated in a yoga event at Garrison Ground in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also joined the celebrations. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Elderly,’ emphasized the importance of yoga for wellness across all age groups.
President Murmu greeted yoga enthusiasts worldwide, highlighting yoga as a valuable gift from India’s cultural heritage. She emphasized yoga’s role in establishing harmony between body, mind, and soul. Yoga, she stated, connects humanity to global consciousness, guiding towards peace and collective welfare.
Since the UN declared June 21 as International Yoga Day, yoga has gained popularity globally for its physical and mental health benefits. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav praised yoga as a priceless heritage of Indian culture, promoting holistic development. As participants of all ages performed yoga together, the focus on healthy aging showcased yoga’s accessibility and relevance for senior citizens.
