President Droupadi Murmu expressed India’s perspective on Southeast Europe, emphasizing it as a dynamic hub of growth and innovation rather than a peripheral region. Speaking at the Assembly of North Macedonia, she underscored the significance of North Macedonia in fostering a stable and prosperous global future. Murmu described North Macedonia as a crucial link connecting the Mediterranean to central Europe and the east to the west.

Highlighting the longstanding historical ties between India and North Macedonia, President Murmu noted the cultural synthesis that thrives today. She reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations through trade and investment, citing the ancient Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family). Emphasizing the importance of building bridges over walls, she called for transforming cultural bonds into tangible economic progress for the benefit of both nations.

President Murmu announced her plans to pay tribute to Mother Teresa, a revered figure in both North Macedonia and India, and to present a bust of Mahatma Gandhi during her visit. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski of North Macedonia hosted a luncheon in her honor, where discussions centered on the close ties based on shared democratic values and mutual respect.
