President Droupadi Murmu attended the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. She expressed joy at the participation of women cadets, calling it a significant moment in the institution’s history. The President commended the cadets for completing a demanding training program, highlighting their courage and wisdom.
She specifically noted the presence of nine women cadets, describing it as a historic milestone for the IMA and a positive step towards women’s empowerment in India. President Murmu expressed optimism about the increasing inclusion of women in the armed forces, anticipating more female cadets joining the Academy in the future. Additionally, she congratulated cadets from friendly foreign nations for their participation and expected them to bring honor to their respective armed forces and countries.
President Murmu emphasized the importance of global engagement, underscoring India’s commitment to international cooperation through the presence of foreign cadets at the IMA. She highlighted the role of cadets in fostering friendship, cooperation, and peaceful relations with nations worldwide. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, she reminded them of their duty as guardians of the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity, entrusted with the well-being of over 140 crore citizens.
The President urged the officers to embrace continuous learning and ethical leadership in the face of evolving security challenges and technological advancements. She stressed the significance of courageous decision-making and ethical leadership in maintaining operational effectiveness and troop welfare. President Murmu emphasized the values of leadership, calling on officers to lead by example, prioritize soldier care, and uphold the armed forces’ traditions.
