Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the joint commitment of India and Australia in combating terrorism during the Australia-India Leaders’ Summit in Melbourne. Stressing the global threat posed by terrorism, PM Modi highlighted the shared resolve of both nations in addressing this challenge. He reiterated the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts, advocating for peace and stability on a regional and international scale.

PM Modi underscored the significance of the Indo-Pacific region as a convergence of democratic values between India and Australia. The leaders signed a joint declaration to enhance collaboration in the security sector, focusing on initiatives such as the India-Australia Defence Innovation Corridor. Additionally, they pledged to strengthen maritime security cooperation and advance joint efforts in ship-building and maintenance projects.

Recognizing the strategic importance of critical minerals for security and clean energy transitions, PM Modi announced the launch of the Australia-India Partnership on Cyber, Critical Technologies, and Supply Chains. Both countries will cooperate on the Critical Minerals Corridor to ensure mutual benefits in these key areas. Furthermore, PM Modi highlighted the role of people-to-people connections in fostering strong bilateral relations, emphasizing the contributions of the Indian diaspora to Australia’s society and economy.
