PM Modi’s remarks came during the inauguration of the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, dedicated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay.
The Prime Minister praised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s role in unifying India post-independence and lamented attempts to diminish his contributions. He highlighted the BJP government’s efforts in recognizing Patel’s legacy through initiatives like the Statue of Unity and National Unity Day on October 31. PM Modi also mentioned the BJP’s focus on honoring marginalized communities, citing examples like the memorial for Lord Birsa Munda and Maharaja Suheldev in Uttar Pradesh.
PM Modi criticized the politics of ‘parivarvad’ for overshadowing others’ contributions and lauded the BJP’s work in restoring the legacies of historical figures like Babasaheb Ambedkar and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He mentioned initiatives such as installing Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s statue at Delhi’s Kartavya Path and naming an island after him. The Prime Minister also condemned attempts by certain parties to undermine Babasaheb Ambedkar’s contributions, emphasizing the BJP’s efforts to uphold and celebrate his legacy.
