Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the accident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, where eight people lost their lives. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each deceased individual and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The incident occurred when a ladle carrying molten steel exploded, resulting in the death of eight workers and injuries to six others.
The accident took place during the lifting of molten steel at the SMS-2 and STC-3 heat facility of the steel plant. The molten iron, reaching temperatures of about 1,500 degrees Celsius, leaked following the explosion of the ladle. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with officials to assess the situation and ensure proper medical care for the injured.
District Collector briefed the Chief Minister on the details of the accident, the medical assistance being provided, and the status of the affected individuals. Among the casualties were five permanent employees and three contract workers. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive necessary medical treatment and sought support from Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy for the affected families.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed deep shock over the incident and directed officials to coordinate relief efforts effectively. He emphasized providing the best medical care to the injured and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. Pawan Kalyan will visit Visakhapatnam to offer his support to the affected families.
