Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, for a two-day trip starting Tuesday. During this visit, he will unveil and lay the foundation for development projects totaling Rs 6,300 crore, which includes a signature bridge over the Ganga river. The city has been beautifully decorated in preparation for his arrival, with saffron-colored decorations lining the key routes, creating a festive atmosphere.
Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister will first land at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport before heading to the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) ground. The visit will also see the inauguration and foundation stone laying for 163 projects across various sectors like infrastructure, connectivity, and public amenities, with a special focus on a signature bridge over the Ganga to enhance regional connectivity.
Elaborate security measures have been implemented for the visit, as confirmed by Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal. Over 700 female police personnel are stationed at the BLW ground, with an additional 2,000 security personnel along the Prime Minister’s route. Advanced security units like the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have been deployed, along with a network of CCTV cameras and an anti-drone system to monitor the Prime Minister’s movements.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary also includes a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on Wednesday morning.
