Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 100 million followers on Instagram, making him the first serving world leader and politician to reach this mark on the social media platform.
Since joining Instagram in 2014, PM Modi has actively engaged with a global audience, establishing one of the most followed digital platforms among world leaders. His outreach strategy has effectively connected with audiences in India and internationally, expanding his presence on the platform.
PM Modi currently holds the largest follower base among international leaders on Instagram, with his count exceeding that of US President Donald Trump by more than double. Notably, the combined followers of the next five major world leaders do not match PM Modi’s individual following.
On other social media platforms, Prime Minister Modi boasts 106.2 million followers on X and 54 million on Facebook, underscoring his extensive global reach and appeal, especially among younger demographics worldwide.
In India, PM Modi maintains a substantial lead over other political figures on Instagram, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi holding the second and third positions, respectively, in terms of followers.
PM Modi’s popularity extends beyond social media, as he achieved the highest approval rating among world leaders as of December 2025, with a 70 percent approval rating according to Statista. This places him at the top of the list alongside other global leaders, showcasing his strong global standing.
