The emphatic victory places India in a strong position for quarterfinal qualification, with the Philippines needing a 12-goal win against Chinese Taipei and Chinese Taipei requiring a 13-goal victory. India, making just one change from their previous game, started the match with determination, taking the lead in the sixth minute.
India’s early goal settled the team, allowing them to dominate proceedings with confident passing and aggressive attacking play. The Young Tigresses nearly doubled their lead soon after, with Pritika posing a constant threat to the Lebanese defense.
In the 35th minute, India extended their lead with a goal from Alva Devi Senjam, securing a 2-0 advantage at halftime. The second half saw India maintain their attacking intensity, controlling possession and pressuring Lebanon deep in their own half. Joya’s individual brilliance added a third goal in the 72nd minute, further solidifying India’s lead.
India sealed their impressive performance with Pritika’s second goal in the 85th minute, confirming a historic victory after over two decades in the competition. The team is now on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stage for the first time in 21 years.
