Pritika Barman shone with two goals, propelling India to a significant 4-0 victory over Lebanon in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026, keeping their quarterfinal hopes alive. Alva Devi Senjam and Joya also scored, marking India’s first win and goals since 2005 in the tournament. This win positions India favorably for a quarterfinal spot as one of the top two third-placed teams.

The emphatic victory places India in a strong position for quarterfinal qualification, with the Philippines needing a 12-goal win against Chinese Taipei and Chinese Taipei requiring a 13-goal victory. India, making just one change from their previous game, started the match with determination, taking the lead in the sixth minute.

India’s early goal settled the team, allowing them to dominate proceedings with confident passing and aggressive attacking play. The Young Tigresses nearly doubled their lead soon after, with Pritika posing a constant threat to the Lebanese defense.

In the 35th minute, India extended their lead with a goal from Alva Devi Senjam, securing a 2-0 advantage at halftime. The second half saw India maintain their attacking intensity, controlling possession and pressuring Lebanon deep in their own half. Joya’s individual brilliance added a third goal in the 72nd minute, further solidifying India’s lead.

India sealed their impressive performance with Pritika’s second goal in the 85th minute, confirming a historic victory after over two decades in the competition. The team is now on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stage for the first time in 21 years.
