Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to visit Assam on Thursday ahead of the state’s upcoming Assembly elections. Her itinerary includes offering prayers at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati upon arrival, followed by meetings at the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan. Scheduled from 11 a.m. till midnight, the meetings will focus on organizational restructuring and reviewing the party’s readiness for the 2026 Assam polls.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will engage in discussions with APCC office-bearers, frontal organization leaders, and party department heads during her visit. The agenda also includes assessing the state’s political landscape, addressing internal challenges within the Congress, and gathering feedback on grassroots-level issues from district leaders. This visit is crucial amidst political changes in Assam’s opposition and reports of Congress leaders exiting the party.
The visit aims to boost morale among state leaders and emphasize unity within the Congress organization. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s interactions are expected to address countering the ruling BJP’s political narrative, enhancing outreach to youth and minorities, and strengthening coordination between the state unit and the central leadership. This visit marks Priyanka’s first trip to Assam in recent times, with party members anticipating her presence to invigorate the cadre and provide strategic guidance.
