Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the Kalladi landslide site for the first time, 18 days after the tragedy that claimed eight lives. She inspected the landslide-hit tunnel construction site, interacted with affected families, officials, and the construction agency, and visited the injured at Meppadi WIMS Hospital. Priyanka assured those affected that the government would provide necessary assistance.
Questions had been raised locally over the delay in the constituency MP reaching the disaster-hit area. Priyanka’s visit came amid murmurs in Wayanad over her absence during the crucial days immediately after the July landslide. She addressed a function to honor those involved in the rescue and relief operations, praising the unity of the people of Wayanad during times of crisis.
Priyanka paid tribute to the victims and commended the courage and selfless service of everyone involved in the rescue efforts. She highlighted the spirit of unity and service displayed by volunteers and rescue personnel, emphasizing the need to uphold this spirit. Priyanka also inspected the landslide-affected areas, reviewed the damage, and met with displaced families and injured workers from Madhya Pradesh.
Accompanied by various officials, Priyanka interacted with doctors and hospital authorities to discuss the condition of the injured. The visit aimed to provide support and assess the situation on the ground, acknowledging the efforts of all those involved in the rescue and relief operations.
