Producer Vipul Shah discussed his extensive partnership with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar during the trailer launch of their upcoming movie ‘Governor’. Shah highlighted their history of six diverse films together and teased their seventh project, which will delve into the realm of aliens and predators.
Shah emphasized their commitment to exploring varied genres in each collaboration, from ‘Aankhen’ to ‘Holiday’. The upcoming film, directed by Kanishk Verma, promises a fresh genre for Indian cinema with top-notch Hollywood technicians onboard for a high-octane action spectacle.
‘Governor’ draws inspiration from India’s economic turmoil in the 1990s, portraying a narrative based on true events with Akshay Kumar portraying an RBI Governor. The movie is a tribute to S. Venkitaramanan, the former RBI Governor, who played a pivotal role during India’s financial crisis in 1991.
India’s economic reforms in the 1990s, marked by liberalization, transformed the country’s financial landscape by attracting foreign investments and bolstering economic growth. ‘Governor’, presented by Sunshine Pictures and helmed by Chinmay Mandlekar, is slated for release on June 12, 2026.
