A group of protesters gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for a ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, urging Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation due to an alleged NEET paper leak. Tensions escalated as clashes erupted between demonstrators and police, who tried to prevent them from breaching barricades.
The protest saw a significant security presence, with Delhi Police setting up multiple layers of barricades in the New Delhi district to manage the growing crowd. Visuals showed students and young protesters carrying flags and chanting slogans, with some attempting to surpass barricades, prompting police to push them back.
Authorities deployed a large number of police personnel at Jantar Mantar, including a riot control vehicle, to maintain order. Restrictions were imposed around the area as protesters planned to march towards Parliament, with students converging at the site from Mandi House Metro Station, expressing dissent against the Central government.
The demonstration intensified as more students joined the march, leading to confrontations with police. Reports indicated that force, including a lathi charge, was used to prevent protesters from breaching security barricades. The situation remained tense as security personnel worked to deter the crowd from entering restricted zones.
Police also used signal jammers in the protest area, affecting mobile phone connectivity nearby. The ongoing protest, demanding the Education Minister’s resignation over NEET issues, has lasted for over a month. Protesters have criticized the government for alleged exam process irregularities and lack of accountability from officials.
Amid heightened security in central Delhi, police closely monitored the demonstrators as they continued their march and voiced concerns over the NEET matter.
