A tractor march organized by Karni Sena Parivar and farmers demanding increased compensation for land acquired for the Indore Western Ring Road project was halted by the police and administration at Shipra Square. The confrontation led to allegations of force usage, including water cannons and tear gas, resulting in injuries to seven farmers.

Rishiraj Singh Sisodia, the Indore district president of Karni Sena Parivar, stated that farmers have been seeking a resolution for three years, submitting around 50 memoranda without reaching a solution. The peaceful march aimed to present demands to the Chief Minister in Bhopal, emphasizing the farmers’ right to voice their demands peacefully in a democratic system.

According to Sisodia, 991 farmers from 39 villages are affected by the Greater Ring Road project, covering approximately 4,442 hectares of land. The land in question is valued between Rs 1 crore to Rs 3.5 crore per acre, while the compensation offered ranges from Rs 18 lakh to Rs 42 lakh. Farmers express support for development but demand fair compensation.
