Amid escalating unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has called for a long march towards Muzaffarabad on July 15, urging people to join in protest. The JAAC reported two more deaths due to firing by Pakistani forces, blaming the rulers in Muzaffarabad for the violence. The United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) highlighted the impact of a communication blackout and restrictions on movement, calling for international intervention to protect civilians’ rights.
Peaceful demonstrations and public gatherings have been held in PoK, with concerns rising over humanitarian issues. The UKPNP appealed to the global community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to intervene and end violence against civilians in the region. The group also demanded the release of detainees and disappeared persons, emphasizing the need for fair trials and adherence to human rights standards.
Expressing concern over human rights abuses in PoK, UK Conservative Party leader Bob Blackman condemned the ongoing violence and lack of justice for victims. Blackman emphasized the importance of demanding accountability for the killings and crackdown in the region.
