Puducherry Chief Minister-designate N. Rangasamy expressed optimism about the Union Territory achieving full Statehood soon, emphasizing the NDA government’s persistent efforts in this regard. After securing a fifth term following the recent elections, Rangasamy visited Salem in Tamil Nadu, where he offered prayers at the Appa Paithiyam Swamy Temple in Suramangalam.
During his visit, Rangasamy congratulated C. Vijay Joseph, whose party emerged as the largest in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with 108 seats. He wished Vijay success in implementing welfare schemes and functioning effectively. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing in Chennai as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam seeks support to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
Rangasamy reaffirmed the significance of Puducherry’s Statehood demand, highlighting that it remains a top priority for his administration. He stated that continuous efforts are being made to urge the Union government for Statehood, emphasizing the NDA’s consistent advocacy for the cause. Details regarding the new Puducherry Cabinet’s formation and ministerial appointments will be disclosed post the swearing-in ceremony and assumption of office by the new government.
In response to queries about Tamil Nadu Congress leaders supporting TVK, Rangasamy noted the natural progression of such political alliances to ensure a stable government formation.
